Welcome to The New School and welcome to Tech Talk! Since you are just getting started, here is a list of useful information to know about tech at The New School:

Accounts and Access

  • Net ID – Your user name and key to technology services at The New School.
  • Password Change/Reset – If you need to change or reset your password, click link to do so.
  • Gmail – New School email accounts are provided to you as a feature of New School GSuite by Google. With Gmail you can set up your New School email on your mobile phone.
  • Newcard Funds – Click here to log into your NewCard account and add funds.
  • ID Photo – This is your go-to site for reviewing photo requirements for your NewCard and checking its status.

Wireless Network

  • Accessing Wireless Networks – Students, faculty, and alumni have access to the New School WiFi. This site shows you how to set it up on your computer or smartphone.

Printing

  • Locations – Find the types of printers available and their locations.
  • Wireless Printing – In order to print wirelessly from your computer to any of The New School’s printers, install this printing application on your computer.
  • Print Credits/Print Points – As a New School student, $150 worth of print credit is available to you each semester.
  • Print Anywhere – With Print Anywhere you can print from any computer or mobile device on or off campus for basic black and white and color printing.

Tech Spaces

  • Labs – Find available technology lab spaces and their locations.
  • Equipment Center – Cameras, tripods, computers, and more are available at the Equipment Center for rental. Request your rental using the link.
  • Laptop Checkout – Checkout laptops that are loaded with the same software found on the lab computers.
  • IT Central – IT Central is the place to go if you need help installing Adobe, can’t access your email, or have any tech questions that need to be answered. IT Central is located at 72 Fifth Avenue.

Software

  • Adobe Creative Cloud – The full Adobe Creative Cloud program is available to all degree and credit seeking New School students.
  • Office 365 – Office 365 is available to all degree and credit seeking New School students. Click the link if you want to download programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) – As a New School student and faculty you have access to AWS Educate, Amazon’s global, grants-based initiative that gives students and educators hands-on experience with AWS technology, cloud training resources, course content and collaboration forums.
  • Apps Anywhere – With The New School’s Apps Anywhere you can run applications that were formerly only available in labs, specific classrooms, or other specific locations around campus from your personal or other campus computers running different operating systems.
  • VMware – The New School has partnered with VMWare to offer students and faculty a suite of software via the VMWare Academic Program for academic and research use.
  • Google Apps – As a New School student, faculty, staff, and alumni you have access to Google Drive which includes the Google Apps like Gmail and Docs, plus unlimited storage for your documents.
  • Deals – The New School has paired up with many providers to offer deals on computers and software. Click the link to find out how to get discounts on products from Microsoft, Apple, and Dell.
