COVID-19 Adjustments

Due to COVID-19, we are offering adjusted IT services that will enable a more remote work environment. Look for these yellow boxes for all temporary adjustments.

Accessing Resources Off-Campus

Some resources require you to be on campus in order to access them unless you are connected through one of the following methods.

Access to IT Technology Facilities on Campus

Due to the fluid nature of the situation, please check the lab hours schedule for the current information. Even if the labs are closed, anyone with access to the buildings can still go to any computer and log in, please just be aware that support staff may not be on-site. Same is true for printer areas.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) is required to access the following applications or resources off-campus. The VPN is only for university provisioned devices. Please fill out the VPN request form for access to the VPN service.

VPN is NOT required to access most applications off-campus

You should only request VPN if you ACCESS any of the following to accomplish your day-to-day work:

  • Tableau

  • Banner System Access (Admin Pages)

  • S-Drives (Network Share Drives)

  • Perceptive

  • Files on your office computer (Only available for Windows users)

Duo 2-Step Login for VPN & MyDay

Both the VPN and MyDay require the use of Duo 2-step login. If you have not already enrolled a device in Duo please do so prior to beginning remote work by following the steps outlined on this page.

Cloud Desktop

With Cloud Desktop you can run a variety of university-licensed software, formerly available in specific campus locations, on any up-to-date computer, tablet, or phone connected to the Internet.

Google Drive

When you save your files using Google Drive you can always access the latest version of your files no matter where you are located as long as you’re connected to the internet. You can access your New School Google Drive by going to docs.newschool.edu and logging in with your NetID and password.

Network Share Drives

If you use Network Share Drives on campus you can also access them via the VPN from off-campus.

Fax Online

If you need access to a fax service you can utilize the Fax Online service. Fax online service is a web-based application that can be used for sending and receiving faxes via the Internet. The fax online interface works on Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X, and Apple iOS (iPads and iPhones).
