How can I tell if FortiEdr (Ensilo) is installed on my computer?

  • For Windows computers, look in the “System Tray” (towards the bottom right corner of the screen) for the FortiEDR (Ensilo) icon.
  • For Mac computers, look in the “System Tray” (towards the top right corner of the screen) for the FortiEDR (Ensilo) icon

What does the FortiEDR (Ensilo) icon look like?

If I don't have FortiEDR (Ensilo) installed on my computer, how can I get it installed on my machine?

Submit a support request to IT Central or call IT Central at 646-909-4357. They will initiate a remote software installation on your computer. 

What can I expect during the installation of FortiEDR (Ensilo)?

  • For Windows computers, the software will install without any notice. Nothing will display on your computer. Your running applications will not be affected, your computer will not reboot, and you will see the FortiEDR (Ensilo) icon once the software installation is complete.

  • For those who use Mac computers, you will see the following pop-up in the corner of your screen. Please install the software when the pop-up shows. Once installed, please follow these directions.

Mac users will have the option to postpone the installation but IT recommends that you choose to install the software immediately.

Will my machine reboot after the FortiEDR (Ensilo) installation?

No, Your computer will not reboot.

What if FortiEDR (Ensilo) blocks a process or application that I am running?

  • Open an Incident with IT Central. In the case please include a screenshot of the popup. Also, note in the Incident what was running on your computer just before the popup came up.

  • If you need to get this process completed right away, call IT Central at 646-909-4357 and request that an exception be created ASAP. You will also need to provide the screenshot and other information listed above.

How will FortiEDR (A.K.A. Ensilo) affect me when I am using the VDI Desktop?

The FortiEDR (A.K.A. Ensilo) software will already be installed. However, you may still receive pop-ups when a process is blocked.  If/When you receive a popup, refer to "What if FortiEDR (Ensilo) blocks a process or application that I am running?"

Can I remove FortiEDR (Ensilo)?

No, you cannot uninstall FortiEDR (A.K.A. Ensilo).

What computer will FortiEDR (Ensilo) be installed on?

The FortiEDR (Ensilo) anti-virus software will be installed on all New School issued computers and laptops.
