Remote Work Tips and Tricks

Prepare and Familiarize
  • As mentioned above, it is important to prepare in advance for remote work or telecommuting. IT suggests you test your equipment and services prior to fully committing to a remote work plan.

  • It is best to familiarize yourself with the services mentioned on this page like Zoom, Jabber, and Google G-Suite applications.

Set Expectations
  • Set expectations with your team that you are available via Zoom, chat, and phone when working remotely just as if you were in the office.

  • Encourage team members to not hesitate to chat or call when you are working remotely.

Meeting and Communicating
  • Chat is a useful way to catch up with colleagues quickly. Google Hangouts is an easy way to chat with team members. If using a chat service, make sure to be responsive and timely when messaging people through chat.

  • Turn on your video in Zoom meetings for face time with your colleagues.
